Camp FAQs

We hope this section answers your questions about our program and a day at camp. But please feel free to reach out with any and all other questions.

  • What does a day at camp look like?

Campers will enjoy a mix of designing, sewing, and playing at camp. We will enjoy the beautiful play areas, art studio, and private backyard of little Brooklyn playschool. When not working on projects kids will play in the sprinkler (in summer), enjoy the backyard, work on art in the studio, and play.

  • How many kids are there each day?

We are licensed to have up to 16 kids but we prefer to keep the group smaller. The size of the group depends on our familiarity with the kids attending and the projects planned for the week.

  • Do kids need sewing experience?

Kids do not need any previous sewing experience for our projects. Kids will get the amount of support they need for their skill and confidence level. For many kids this means that an adult is sitting directly next to them helping to guide the fabric as kids control the sewing machine foot pedal. Kids will build up to more independent sewing when/if they are ready.

  • Can kids really sew?

Yes! Kids can sew on a machine! But it takes experience, practice, and confidence. The goal of our camp is not to teach kids to sew. The goal of our program is to foster a love of making. The sewing machine is a tool that the kids will use.

  • Do you have afterschool?

Currently we are not scheduling any after school classes.

  • Why are scrunchies on the project list so often?

Scrunchies are a perfect project for sewing practice. Kids might not realize it but they are learning to sew as they repeatedly make scrunchies. And kids LOVE scrunchies! They are hair accessories, bracelets, and make a great gift. Scrunchies can be made in any size, with any materials, and in many different ways.

  • What if my kid has attended before and made a similar project.

We have many repeat customers! Kids that have made the same or similar project before can take their work to the next level.

  • What does my child need to bring each day?

Kids should bring a water bottle, and lunch. We will provide snacks. In the summer kids should also bring sunscreen and a swimsuit.
